| 1845 | Approximate time immigrants began wanting their own church |
| 1845 | Fr. Schneiderjans came to Vincennes from Evansville |
| 1847 | Beginning of parish records and purchase of the land |
| 1851 | First school started in rented buildings |
| 1852 | Church building finished and dedicated |
| 1856 | Building of rectory |
| 1860 | First Providence nun teaching |
| 1866 | Addition of church to more than double the size |
| 1866 | Tremendous influx of Germans to St. John's |
| 1872 | New school built with four classrooms and second floor hall |
| 1890 | Present form of church built |
| 1902 | Golden Anniversary of church dedication in 1852 |
| 1908 | Stained glass art windows purchased and installed |
| 1910 | Main altar donated by Rosalie Kluck Froelke |
| 1911 | St. John's school enlarged |
| 1920 | Closing out of most German language church services |
| 1926 | Pipe organ installed and dedicated in October |
| 1944 | Diocese of Evansville created and announced from Rome |

Electric bell ringers installed and steeples covered with copper and new crosses |
| 1947 | Centennial celebrations at St. John's |
| 1954 | New school built and dedicated |
| 1964 | Vatican Council II started. Mass facing congregation |
| 1968 | Parish Council started |
| 1977 | Communion in hand permitted |
| 1978 | Church interior painted and reconciliation rooms built |
| 1987 | Stewardship program began |
| 1989 | Pipe organ restored. New crosses on church installed |
| 1990 | Air conditioning in church. Cornerstone box opened |
| 1994 | Parish Center walls stripped and painted or papered, new flooring, window treatments and landscaping |
| 1996 | Rectory walls stripped and painted or papered, new flooring, window treatments. |
| 1997 | 150th Anniversary celebration and mortgage burning |
| 2003 | Church restoration including rebuilding the floor and new pews |
